Jacqueline Fraber Edgewater, Maryland Obituary

Jacqueline Fraber

Jacqueline “Jackie” (McManus) Fraber passed away suddenly at her home November 27, 2020. She is survived by her daughter Christina Fraber of Greenbelt, MD, her ex-husband/ friend Jack Fraber also of Greenbelt, MD, her niece/goddaughter Jennifer Mobley of Edgewater, MD (along with her husband Justin Mobley and their son Jackson), her dear cousins Mary Cohan-Pekarchuk of Canada, Joan Johnson, Paula Adamson and Marcia McManus of South Carolina and many great friends who became family. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother Gerald “Jerry” McManus and her beloved sister Jean Tydings. Jackie was an amazingly kind woman who was also astonishingly strong (and stubborn), loyal, fun and an all around wonderful person to be around with her twinkling eyes and contagious laugh. She was a best friend to many, most of all her daughter Christina with whom she shared everything including mutual adoration. Jackie was born in Washington, D.C. on July 27, 1945 to Gwendolyn Clark McManus and Edward McManus. She grew up on Jefferson Street in Chillum with lots of friends who remained in her life always. Those days on Jefferson Street were some of the happiest times in her life; she would reminisce about them often. She lived in Greenbelt, MD for many years where she made even more lifelong friends while working and raising her daughter before moving to Crofton, MD in 2002. She was always an unbelievably capable and dedicated worker. The jobs she served the longest were as an Executive Secretary at American President Lines, as a secretary at the Law Office of James A. Cole and of course the most important job of all to her as a devoted mother to her daughter. She put her heart and soul into everything she did and always wanted to help everybody she met. Since finally retiring a few years ago Jackie loved talking to her friends and family, listening to music, watching her tv shows (especially General Hospital, Perry Mason and Hallmark Movies), playing Free Cell Solitaire, playing board games with her daughter, anything sweet (especially the things her daughter baked) and most of all her late 17 year old tabby cat Speedy (with whom she is hopefully celebrating a very happy reunion). She will be unbearably missed every day by all that knew and loved her. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date once the Covid situation is under control. Please take a moment and leave a condolence for Jacqueline's family by using the ltab on this page.
