Leslie Nicol Martin, known as Les to friends and family, died during the night on November 23, 2020 after years of declining health and frequent medical treatment.  He had been in the care of The Pavilion at Glacier Valley in Slinger, WI at the time.  Les has been a resident of West Bend, WI for the past twenty years.

Les was born on November 30, 1957 to Harriett (Nicol) and Floyd Martin at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in IL.  He was the youngest of four children, including Lonnine, Robert, and James.  Floyd and Harriett lived at 449 S. Cornell Ave., Villa Park, IL for fifty years before moving to West Bend with Les.  Church life was important to the family.  Over the years, they were active members of Community Church in Villa Park, St. Peter’s UCC in Elmhurst, and Peace UCC in Kewaskum.  Les enjoyed singing in the choir and ushering.  His “happy song” was the Beatles’ Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.   

Les is survived by his brothers, Bob and Jim, and numerous nieces and nephews.  We offer our thanks to the many people who have attempted to care for and about Les during his life and help him to experience God’s grace and compassion.  A memorial, celebrative gathering will be held when the Covid-19 threat has passed.
