Bernice Betty Tagtmeyer, 79 years 11 months and 19 days old, died on November 28, 2020 at her home on Hawkins Creek Road, Westford Township. She was born to Marvin Henry Bailey and Ella Emma (Steen) Bailey on December 9, 1940 in Madison. At the end of World War II with Marvin’s return from Army service in Europe the family moved to Milwaukee. Bernice attended school Kindergarten through 12th grade in Milwaukee graduating in 1958. She was married on October 18, 1958 to Daniel Boles Tagtmeyer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. She made friends easily as she worked as a waitress most of her working years, but the first eleven years of her marriage was devoted to raising her four sons. Her interests ranged from making ceramics, cooking and baking for her family, quilting and playing card games and board games. In her later years reading, going out to dinner and visiting with friends were of uppermost importance. Bernice is survived by her husband Daniel; three of her four sons: Peter Eugene and wife Katherine and two sons Nicholas and Evan, Erich Mark and wife Patricia and two daughters Elise and Amy, Kurt Nicholas and lifelong friend Shirley Pratt; many other relatives and friends. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents and son Matthew Erwin. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 4, 2020 at St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Richland Center. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM on December 4, 2020 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel. The family suggests memorials in Bernice’s name be directed to G.R.A.C.E.
