Carolyn Hall Obituary

Carolyn Irwin Hall, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, died November 28,2020.

She was born Carolyn Constance Irwin on June 7, 1945, to Frank Lewis Irwin and Anna Constance Gosting Irwin at Fort Bragg, NC. She grew up in Magnolia, Arkansas, and graduated from Southern Arkansas University with a degree in elementary education. She taught in the Magnolia Public Schools, then went to Ohio State University, where she earned her PhD in education. She taught science education at Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa. Later she became a respiratory therapist.

In 1967 she and David Malcolm Hall were married. Over the years they lived in Columbus, OH, Iowa City, IA, Chelmsford, MA, Ballwin, MO, and Coral Springs, FL. They retired to Pine Bluff, AR. With the arrival of their children, David Franklin Hall and Anna Theresa Hall Checketts, Carolyn became a full time mother. Being a devoted, loving wife and mother was Carolyn’s most enjoyable and rewarding life’s work. She loved to read, travel, and learn new things. She will be remembered as an optimistic, gentle, loving soul.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 54 years, David, son David Franklin (Amy), daughter Anna, all of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren Skyler Hall, Jasmine Hall, Kayley Morgan, Ashlee Checketts, Kaden Checketts, and Mya Checketts; brother Robert Irwin (Cathy) of Fayetteville, AR, sister Catherine Irwin of Albuquerque, NM, sisters-in-law Debbie Morrow of Waco, TX and Cindy Allen of Bryant, AR, brother-in-law Buster Hall (Freda) of Little Rock, AR; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Roselawn Cemetery. Online condolences and livestreaming at www.ralphrobinsonandson.com.
