Van Cooper Sr. was born on December 10, 1942 in Washington D.C. to the late Welford and Bessie Cooper Sr. Van departed this life on November 30, 2020 in Rockville, MD. Van received his education in Montgomery County Publics Schools. He was affectionately known as “Snake” by friends and family. He worked at Building Services for Sweeny Building Services and retired after 16 years. Van enjoyed weekends at the Racetrack, fishing, playing cards with friends and family and watching the Washington Football Team. Before he departed this life, Van turned to the love of the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Van Cooper Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 30 years, Gloria Cooper; children, Takea Simms (Ernest), Chanda Herbert- Saunders (Frankie), and Van Cooper Jr.; grandchildren, Makayla, Camile and Andrew Ali, Samuel, Briana, Gabrielle Osei, and Frankie Saunders Jr.; brothers; Melvin Cooper Sr. (Odella), Norman Cooper (Evelyn), Ralph Cooper (Patricia); Sisters, Betty Nkansah, and Beverly Cooper; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Van was proceeded in death by: brothers; Phillip, Edward, Welford Jr, and Alfred Cooper.
