Gladys Arnott

Gladys Arnott----68, Minot, ND, died Friday, November 27, 2020, at a Minot Hospital.   Gladys was born on April 14, 1952, a daughter of Luis Antonio Rodríguez Alvarez and Teodocia Guzmán Rodríguez in Puerto Rico. She was raised and educated in Villalba, Puerto Rico where she graduated from high School. Gladys was united in marriage to Jerald Arnott, whom she met while he was serving in the U.S. Navy in Puerto Rico. The couple married in Brewton, Alabama in 1974. They purchased their home in Minot, ND, where together they raised their daughter Sarah.  Gladys worked at McDonald’s & then the Fortune Cookie for many years while she went to college.  She furthered her education by attending Minot State University where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education.  She spent over twenty years teaching foreign languages at Erik Ramstad, Glenburn, Minot AFB, MSU, Magic City Campus & retired from Central Campus.  Together Jerald and Gladys enjoyed travelling, hunting, gardening, fishing, playing pool, listening to music and meeting new friends. Jerald died September 12, 2014 which was very hard on Gladys and her health.  Gladys loved spending time with her grandkids and chatting on the phone with her family back home. Gladys is survived by: daughter Sarah Arnott and her companion Magrath Keelan; grandsons: Kolben & Kesler,  granddaughters: Kinley, Lilly and Ireland Keelan; Sister: Carmen G. Rodríguez Guzmán, Nieces: Mayra I. Collazo Rodríguez, Olga J. Collazo Rodríguez, Evelyn Collazo Rodríquez, Edna Collazo Rodríguez, Nephew: Fernando L. Collazo Rodríguez, Sister in law Gilda Colón, Nephews: Luis G. Rodríguez Colón, Luis A. Rodríguez Colón, Luis J. Rodríguez Colón, Brother: Samuel Maldonado González, Cousins: Olga Guzmán Guzmán (Irving Aguayo), Yolanda Guzmán Guzmán, Sonia Guzmán Guzmán (Edgardo Garcia), Glendaliz Garcia Guzmán, Sonia E. Garcia Guzmán ; Siblings-in-laws: Jim (Donna) Arnott, Phyllis Wilson , Carol Mullikin, and Sharon Apland, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, and parents Luis Antonio Rodríguez Alvarez and Teodocia Guzmán Rodríguez, her brother Luis A. Rodriguez Guzmán, brother-in-law Emigdio Collazo, Aunt: Consuelo Guzmán Rodríguez (Primitivo Guzmán) Mass of Christian Burial:  Thursday, December 3, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot. Visitation and Prayer Service:  Wednesday, December 2, 2020 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. with a Vigil Prayer Service at 5 p.m. all at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
