<p>Wayne P. Roy, age 83, of 66 Tipperary Road in Gladstone passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 at his home. He was born May 13, 1937 in Negaunee, MI, son of the late George and Delima (Raby) Roy and has been a lifelong resident of Marquette and Delta County. Wayne was a third-generation union activist who worked many years in development and training, laboring to provide equal and fair opportunities for working men and women. He served as a long-time member and president of the Marquette County Central Labor Council AFL-CIO. In 2000, Wayne was inducted to the U.P. Labor Hall of Fame for his lifetime contributions to the U.P. labor community. He retired in 1998, after over a decade of government, serving as the U.P. and Northern Lower Michigan&rsquo;s representative for the U.S. Department of Labor&rsquo;s Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training. Wayne was a U.S. Navy Veteran who actively served his fellow veterans and community in the American Legion. In 2016, he was recognized as the U.P. Legionnaire of the Year for his outstanding leadership and service.</p> <p>Wayne P. Roy is survived by his partner, Margaret Anderson; children, Vickie Ore, John Dupler, Patricia (Michael) Neverman, and Thomas (Rosanne) Roy; step-children, Jane Sleeter, and Wanda Cross El-Assar; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Bertucci of Ishpeming; and several nieces and nephews.</p> <p>In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his wives, Hazel (Roos) Roy, and Mildred (Kanerva) Roy.</p> <p>Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 3, 2020 at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone. Due to the current mandate, masks and social distancing are requested. Military Honors will be conducted by the Gladstone American Legion Post 71 at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Gwinn Cemetery with burial services to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials please be directed to the All Saints General Improvement Fund.&nbsp;</p>
