Ruth Ellis Obituary

Ruth Ellis, age 82 of Paris, died Sunday, November 29, 2020, at the Bells Nursing & Rehab Center in Bells, TN.

 

She retired after working many years in the clothing manufacturing industry. She previously worked for the Salant and Salant and H.I.S. companies. After retiring, she enjoyed her work as a sitter and caregiver. Ruth was a member of Central Point Baptist Church. She loved to dance and enjoyed playing cards and games.

 

Born March 28, 1938, in Dresden, she was the daughter of the late Roy Edward Vancleave and the late Inize Davis Vancleave.

 

She was married March 20, 1967, to Earl Ray Ellis, who preceded her in death, June 28, 2012.

 

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Liz (Ted) Inman of Bowling Green, KY; two sons, Ric (Mary) Evans of Dresden, and Edward (Teresa) Ellis of Bells; two step daughters, Diane (Bruce) Cooke of Lansing, MI and Brenda (Kelly) Scheffler of St. Johns, MI; two sisters, Joyce (Billy) Burnette of Paris and Pauline Garner of Dresden; 20 grandchildren; and several great and great-great grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Lee Nix.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Tuesday, December 1, 2020, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at 12:00 pm in LeDon Chapel of  Ridgeway Funeral  in Paris, TN, with Bobby Campbell officiating.

 

Cremation will follow the service.
