Stanley J. Newcomer, 91 Stanley J. Newcomer, 91 of Ashland passed away late Thursday, November 26, 2020 at University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center. He was born on September 2, 1929 to the late Jesse and Carrie Belle (nee Smith) Newcomer. Stanley was 1 of 9 children. Ashland is where he grew up and graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1947. He and wife Donna also lived in Mifflin, Mansfield, Lake Worth, Florida and in the last 3 years back to Ashland. After graduation, Stanley was with the Third Armored Division of the Army. He served his time fighting in the Korean War. He was wounded twice and received two purple hearts. After boot camp he came back to marry Donna Marie Wertman on May 6, 1951. Donna still survives and then he returned to the army. Stanley was a very hard worker his entire life!! He was a master machinist and worked at Ashland Union Malleable and Mansfield Tire and Rubber until each closed up. Then Stanley bought older homes and remodeled them into apartments in Ashland. While living in Florida, he enjoyed being at the beach for walks and meeting people. Stanley loved to eat out especially Saturday breakfast and his love of hamburgers. He also received his pilot’s license and was proud to fly a Cessna up and down the coastline. He also built his own home in Mifflin and a small tractor to mow the lawn. Even at 90, he helped his daughter Linda build steps on her deck. Stanley and Donna had 2 daughters, Linda A. Yarnell Murray who resides in Ashland and Cynthia L. Newcomer who resides in Port St. Lucie, Florida; he also has five grandchildren, Carrie L. Hett of Powder Springs, Georgia, Matthew S. Yarnell of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Geoffrey A. Murray of Zebulon, North Carolina, Faith A. Williams of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and John “Bo” Hart of Frankfort, Kentucky; five great grandchildren, Alyssa and Bella Hett, Miles Hart, Gracelynn and Nathan Murray; one sister, Francis Harned; and one brother Richard Newcomer. In addition to his parents, Stanley is preceded in death by five brothers, Russell, Everett, Harold, Norman, Robert Newcomer; one sister, Marg Gorman; and an infant sister, Marilyn.
