Marvin R Mueller Obituary

Marvin R. Mueller, 82, went home to be with his Savior on Nov, 26, 2020, at the Wishek Living Center.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST, Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Grace Evangelical Free Church, Beulah, with Pastor Jonathan Hallett officiating.  Burial will follow at Defiance Cemetery, rural Dodge, ND.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Wearing a mask at the funeral service is strongly encouraged.

Marvin was born Oct. 15, 1938 in Richardton, ND, the son of Daniel and Elsie (Richau) Mueller.  Marvin lived most of his entire life on the family farm north of Golden Valley.  He went to country school through 8th grade.  He was confirmed at Golgotha Lutheran Church in Golden Valley on July 6, 1952.

Marvin was drafted into the U.S. Army on Dec. 4, 1962 and honorably discharged on Nov. 30, 1968.  He served with the 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment Reconnaissance Squadron in Germany whose mission was to guard the northern border of the sensitive East-West German border.

Marvin returned to the family farm and was there until his retirement in 2014, when he moved to the Schoolhouse Apartments in Beulah.

Marvin was a devout Christian and read his Bible daily.  It is unknown to his family how many times he read through it from Genesis to Revelation.  He became a member of Grace Evangelical Free Church in Beulah in 1994 and grew to love his church family. He served as a church elder and led some Bible studies.

Marvin was an avid hunter.  He introduced and guided many relatives and friends to deer hunting in the Badlands.  We all marveled at both his aim and his ability to spot animals, seeing them with his naked eye when those with him had trouble seeing them with binoculars.  His favorite hobby was playing Pinocle.  For those who played with him, you know it was hard for him not to bid – even if he had nothing but nines and jacks in his hand.  In his retirement years he also played lots of Rummicub with his fellow apartment building residents.

Marvin is survived by his nephew, Randy (Sarah) Becker of Beulah; nieces Connie (Jim) Isaak of Bismarck, and Sherry (Brad) Melroe of Eagan, MN; seven great-nephews, six great great-nephews, and one great great-niece.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Dan & Elsie Mueller, his sister Alfa (Mueller) Becker, brother-in-law Henry Becker, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of memorials, donations can be made to Grace Evangelical Free Church, Meals on Wheels, or KNDR Radio.
