William Joseph “Jody” Norris, 70, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 at his home and went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was a loving husband and father to his wife, Paula and his son, Slade who was his pride and joy. He was a lifelong member of Daisy United Methodist Church. Jody was a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School and an Art Major at MTSU. He was very creative and won recognition for some of his paintings. After graduating he began teaching art in Dade County. He also taught at Red Bank Junior High and Soddy-Daisy High School. At Soddy-Daisy High School he coached girls fast-pitch softball and was assistant coach for football. Jody taught himself to play guitar and enjoyed writing poems and songs. One of his greatest joys in life was singing. He organized a band and performed “Elvis” concerts and performances in the area. He also sang in local churches singing hymns, contemporary Christian and some that he had written. Jody was an avid golfer and would lead you to believe he was a scratch golfer. He was always the life of a party, had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. He was one of a kind and will be forever be remembered and live on in the hearts of those he touched. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Opal Springfield and John and Stella Norris; parents, Charlie and Monteen Norris and brother, John Norris.
Survivors are his wife of 44 years, Paula Norris; son, Slade Norris (Charlcie); brother, Jason Norris (Nancy); brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doug Shipp (Estella); nephew, Shawn Norris; niece, Yancey Norris Haas; great nephew, Seth Norris.
The funeral service will be on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Pastor David Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens at 11:30 A.M. Visitation is Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
