Jerry Keesler Young, Jr.
<p>Jerry Keesler Young, Jr., 92, of Kannapolis died Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.</p> <p>Born February 6, 1928 in Kannapolis, Jerry was a son of the late Jerry K. Young, Sr. and Maddie Parrish Young. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by all his siblings; John M. Young, Juanita Y. Williams. Laura Y. Rowland and Loretta Y. Tucker. He graduated from Barium Springs School and attended Appalachian State University. Jerry was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving during the Korean War. He worked at the North Carolina Division of Employment Security for 30 years, retiring in 1988. </p> <p>Jerry was a resident of this area since 1959. He married his beloved wife, Evelyn Kennerly Young, on June 2, 1962. She preceded him in death on November 17, 2020. Jerry was a member of the local Moose Lodge and was an Elder at Back Creek Presbyterian Church in Mt. Ulla.</p> <p>Those left to cherish his memory and those of his loving wife, Evelyn are numerous nephews and nieces, their families and many dear friends.</p> <p>Jerry will lie in-state with his wife, Evelyn, at Whitley’s Funeral Home from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, November 30. There will be a double funeral service for the Youngs at Back Creek Presbyterian Church at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 1st. This will be a DRIVE-IN SERVICE ONLY and will be broadcast to cars in the church yard on FM radio 87.9.
