Effie Mae "Pat" Fleming

FLEMING, Effie Mae, “Pat” (Blakely), age 97, formerly of Dayton, Ohio passed away Monday, November 23, 2020 at Miami Valley Hospital due to complications following surgery to repair a broken femur. She was born in Trosper, Ky and came to Dayton, Ohio when she was 18. Although it was difficult being on her own so young and in a strange city, Pat was a very independent and strong woman and she soon found work at Delco Products where she worked and prospered for many years. Later in life, she would become an award-winning waitress for Friendly Ice Cream. She loved people and always had close friends to whom she was very loyal. She loved to laugh and have fun. Pat’s talents were many, she was an extremely accomplished seamstress, gardener, animal advocate, devoted wife and mother who knew the meaning of love, caring and support. She enjoyed taking long rides and experiencing new things. Pat was an ardent follower of news and politics although not to be outdone by her love of Westerns. She was an avid collector of Beanie Babies, Barbie Dolls and other varieties of dolls. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, John S. Fleming; parents, Andy Andrew and Delice Blakely; three sisters, Nola Shelton, Jean Hughes, Amanda Turner; and one brother, John Blakely. She is survived by daughter, Cynthia Fleming; brother, Paul Blakely; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Because of the Covid-19 crisis, friends will be received by invitation only at the ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME 2100 E. STROOP RD. KETTERING, OHIO on December 17, 2020 from 6:00-7:00pm with services following at 7:00pm. Viewing of the services will be available on youtube.com through the Routsong Funeral Home channel via livestream.
