Howard W. Rudolph Obituary

Howard W. Rudolph Howard Wilmer Rudolph, formerly of Fleetwood, went home to Glory on Thursday November 26, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. EST to be with Jesus and to be reunited with his “Special One,” Doris M. Rudolph. Born July 2, 1932, in Green Tree PA, he was the son of the late Howard and Mary Rudolph of Malvern. His family lovingly referred to Howard as Skip, or Pop, or Dad, or PopPop. Howard’s spiritual family affectionately called him “PaPa” because of his love of Christ and his encouragement in their lives. Of all the things Howard can be remembered for, his desire was to be known as a man of God. Shortly after graduating high school, Howard joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Howard was assigned to the 372 Bomb Squadron. Howard served as the Central Fire Control gunner on the B-29 Superfortress completing 29 combat missions over North Korea. Staff Sergeant Rudolph served from January 1951 – December 1953. Before joining the Air Force, Howard dated “a beautiful red-haired girl” and continued to court his future bride until that “Wonderful Day of Days” January 26, 1952 when Doris Greiner became his wife. Howard and Doris celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary shortly before her passing on March 31, 2012. Twice Born: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.” – John 3:5. Following the loss of friends and crew who were killed in action, Howard questioned his spiritual life and wanted to be prepared to meet God. No one he asked provided the answers he sought until he attended an evangelical tent meeting in Frazer PA. Both Howard and Doris were led to the Lord at that meeting on August 7, 1957. At that meeting, they were introduced to Mr. and Mrs. Barclay (Bart) Hargreaves of Malvern, PA. The Hargraves became spiritual mentors and life-long friends. Howard and Doris were also blessed and received life-long encouragement and Christian love from Special Friends Robert and Maryann Irvine of West Chester. Howard started his 37-year career with the Bell Telephone Company in 1954. He began as a cable splicer’s helper and was promoted to numerous technical positions until accepting a promotion into management. Howard served in a number of area manager positions and retired as the Reading Area District Manager. For all the people Howard worked with, this is what he had to say, “All of the men and women were especially great – people, craft and management. [Bell Telephone] was a wonderful place filled with dedicated people who demonstrated a great work ethic – we all worked together as a team.” Ministry: Howard graduated from the Philadelphia College of Bible in 1962. He accepted opportunities to preach while simultaneously working full-time for Bell Telephone. In 1966, Howard was asked to establish a Church at Green Hill, PA. In 1967, He was ordained into the ministry and “licensed to proclaim the Gospel” as the pastor of Green Hill Chapel and later as the pastor of Gethsemane Chapel. In 1994, Howard went on a mission to Cameroon Africa with Tech Serve International to establish telecommunications for a local hospital. Howard had the privilege to serve with Dr. Alvin Low in his ministry with ACTS International. In 2008, Howard traveled to Myanmar as a keynote speaker to address that year’s graduating class. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to ACTS International whose mission is equipping national pastoral leaders for effective ministry and church planting. For donation instructions, please see www.actsinternational.net/donation. Howard is survived by his brother David Rudolph of Pawleys Island SC; two sons: Douglas Rudolph of Anchor Point, AK, and Daniel Rudolph of Port Saint Lucie, FL; daughter, Deborah Stutzman of Fleetwood; six grandchildren: Joshua Rudolph, Dylan Peralta, Tyler Rudolph, Brandon Stutzman, (gem) Elizabeth Stutzman, and (gem) Abigail Riccardi; five great-grandchildren: Morgan Haines, Paige Haines, Joshua Rudolph Jr., Matthew Rudolph, and August Peralta. A graveside service will be held for immediate family at Great Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Malvern, PA.
