Thurman R. "Bob" Carr Obituary

Thurman R. “Bob” Carr of Greers Ferry died on November 26 in Heber Springs. Born in Miller, Arkansas in 1923, Mr. Carr was 97 years old. He was the son of the late Ike Carr and Laura (Crockett) Carr. He was a member of Greers Ferry First Assembly of God Church and was one of the charter members of that church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War 2 in Fleet Air Wing 14. He served in the transport wing for fuel for B-24 Bombers. He moved his family to St. Louis in 1951 where he worked as a machinist for McDonnell (now Boeing) Aircraft until returning to Greers Ferry in 1968. In Greers Ferry he raised cattle and poultry on a commercial level. He served as a Justice of the Peace on the Cleburne County Quorum Court and later as a member of the Greers Ferry City Council. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Irene (Carlton) Carr, his brothers Bynum and Buel and his sisters Jewell, Hazel, Martha, and Ethel. He is survived a son, grandson and 3 great grand children in Michigan. He is also survived by a daughter, granddaughter and 2 great grand children in Mississippi; grandson and 2 great grandchildren in St. Louis; a grandson in Greers Ferry and a granddaughter in California. Visitation and funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 29, 2020 in the Crossroads Community Church with Pastor Lee Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Crossroads Cemetery. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home. www.olmstead.cc
