Mr. Granville Edward Blankenship, age 86, of Rowe, Virginia, passed away Friday (November 27, 2020) at Heritage Hall in Grundy, Virginia. Born March 18, 1934 in Skeggs, Virginia, he was a son of the late James Harrison and Bertha Street Blankenship. A lifelong resident of Rowe, Virginia, he was a member of the Robinson Fork Pentecostal Church and attended many area churches where he enjoyed singing. Granville was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers Association, he loved spending time outdoors and hunting Ginseng. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Leah “Billie” Blankenship; one brother, Herbert Blankenship; and one nephew, Jeff Blankenship. Survivors include five children, Regina Deel and husband, Charlie of Grundy, Virginia, Ceretha McGlothlin of Rowe, Virginia, Kathy McGlothlin and husband, Randy of Rowe, Virginia, Gary Blankenship and wife, Karen of Mooresburg, Tennessee, Michael Blankenship and wife, Leigh of Grundy, Virginia; one honorary son, Arnold “Bounce” Campbell and wife, Martha of Row, Virginia; eleven grandchildren, Anthony McGlothlin, Aleshia McGlothlin, Crystal Wampler, Maranda Proffitt, Christine Majors, Anthony Parsons, Brandon Parsons, Alexsander Blankenship, Autumn Blankenship, Jon Michael Blankenship, Leah Blankenship; eleven great-grandchildren, Brandon, Trevor, Leah Faith, Lora Beth, Nathaniel, Tyler, Kayleigh, Cara, Aiden, Jaxxon, and Johnson; two great-great-grandchildren, Addison and Ivy; one niece, Teresa Parish and husband, Tim also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday (November 29, 2020) in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel in Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Tim Lester, Rev. Troy Lester and Rev. Charlie Deel officiating. Interment will follow in the Street Cemetery at Rowe, Virginia. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Justice, Joe Bill Proffitt, Rod Bailey, Harless Keen, Chester Elkins, Eugen Elkins, and Toy Horn. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home starting at 1:00 PM Sunday. Due to COVID restrictions mandated by the governor, a mask is required.
