Peggy Sue Shelton Obituary

Peggy Sue Goodman Shelton, 62, of Athens, formerly of Ten Mile, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at her residence with her family. 

She was of the Baptist faith. She was a devoted wife, mother, and mamaw. She enjoyed being with her family, and watching them race, and watching Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Dooley and Edith Goodman, brother: Buddy Goodman.

She is survived by husband of 47 years: Sammy Shelton of Athens, TN, children: Sharon (Randy) Gibson of Sweetwater, TN, Ronnie (Latonya) Shelton of Ten Mile, James (Kerry) Shelton of Lenior City, TN, grandchildren: Rachel (Lane) Marlowe of Statesville, NC, Kimberly (Shane) Trusley of Decatur, TN, Katelin (Jacob) Moon of Decatur, Zachary (Vanessa) Shelton of Ten Mile, Austin Shelton and Alyssa Shelton both of Niota, TN, Kristen Palmer of Athens, TN, Kelsey Shelton of Ten Mile, JT (Shayla) Gibson of Kingston, TN, Tyler (Alisa) Gibson of Harriman, TN, Cici Shelton of Ten Mile, Aubrey Walden of Ten Mile, TN, Brianna (Josh) Davis of Ten Mile, TN, Josh Palmer of Lenior City, TN, great-grandchildren: Mikey, Jace and Kayden, Madison, Triton, Braylynn and Heavenly, Summer and Skylar, Laken, brothers: John (Francess) Goodman, Otis Goodman, Robert Goodman, sisters: Kathy Berry, Margaret (Jay) Russell, Edna Berry, Faye Thomas, Wanda Oran, several nieces, nephews, and other extended family special sister-in-law: Marylou Roberts, special friends: Jill, Jim and Joyce.

A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. Curtis Walden and the Rev. Rick Mooneyham. Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Ten Mile.

Pallbearers will include: Mikey, Jace Moon, Zach Shelton, Jacob Moon, James Shelton, Lane Marlowe, Austin Shelton, JT Gibson, and Richard Clowers.

Family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service.

Special Thanks to Sharon of Amedisys Hospice of Athens for all the care of Peggy during her illness.
