JoAnn Mulcahy

JoAnn Mulcahy, age 76, of Lockport, IL, formerly of Chicago, passed away November 24, 2020 in Bolingbrook, IL. She was born December 4, 1943 in Cleveland, OH. JoAnn is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, George Mulcahy; her loving children, Joe (Karen) Mulcahy, Dina Mulcahy, James Mulcahy and their beloved angel Bobby; her loving grandchildren, Kyle Mulcahy, Morgan Mulcahy and Shannon Mulcahy; her brother, Jack (Joyce) LiFonti; many nieces, nephews and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ethel LiFonti, and her adoring Aunt Lee JoAnn grew up on the Southside of Chicago. George and JoAnn have been best friends for 68 years. She worked as a customer service representative for Target, Corp., retiring in 2010. She had a passion for her grandchildren and gardening. She loved to dance and listen to music. She instilled in her grandchildren a love of family tradition which included baking cookies, building gingerbread houses and making Halloween customs. JoAnn made sure that her children and grandchildren knew that the Easter Bunny visited by making bunny footprints with baby powder. She loved McDonalds chicken ranch wraps. She loved farmer’s eggs for breakfast. She did a great impression of Donald Duck. She loved Disney movies, Yoga, sitting on her backyard swing and growing tomatoes. She did not like mostaccioli, however still made it for George once a week. She was extremely fussy about decorating the Christmas tree and would rearrange everything after we all went to sleep. She enjoyed as a family going on small road trips to Buckingham fountain and then stopping at Tastee-Freeze and getting Monster Malts which we could never finish. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to Parisi’s for hot dogs. She was a good and loyal friend. She will be remembered for being a great Mom. She will be forever missed. She made a warm and welcoming home to all. Memorial Donations may be made to: The Mulcahy Family Visitation will be Thursday, December 3, 5:00-8:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Road, Plainfield, IL 60544. JoAnn’s family wishes to have friends and extended family be able to pay respects. Please follow all current CDC recommendations, masks are required and respect the 6 feet social distancing. Currently 10 visitors are allowed in the chapel at a time. Please be patient and follow the guidance of the funeral directors. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 4, 11:00 AM at St. Mary Immaculate Church, 15629 IL Rt 59, Plainfield, IL 60544. Interment will be private.
