Walter D. Fredrick “Fred”, 70, of Gloucester passed from this life into the next, very unexpectedly, on November 25. He was born in Lowell, MA the son of Walter W. Fredrick and Lila Dupee Fredrick, the oldest sibling among four. He was predeceased by his father Walter and younger brothers Andrew and Matthew, and is survived by his sister Lila A. Bareford (David), his mother Lila F. Fredrick, his nephews Matthew (Lara) and Warren (Amanda) Fredrick, his nieces Julia Fredrick and Skylar Bareford and his aunt Ruth Gatti. Walter was a graduate of Gloucester High School and UMass South Dartmonth, as well as a member of the US Coast Guard. He was known for pursuing a variety of interests throughout his lifetime. After retiring from Bomco where he worked for many years as a quality control engineer, he was a supervisor at the Northeast Arc. He also shared Consignments and More on Washington Street with his mother, and started his Eshy business there. He was a congregant of UU First Parish Church in Beverly and lived out his faith through his acts of kindness and service to the community. Walter was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening and doing projects around the house. He was a lifetime learner of languages, nature, art, photography and history. He was especially devoted to the several rescue dogs he cared for over the years. Most importantly, Walter was a faithful and caring friend to many, and a well-loved member of the Lane’s Cove section of Gloucester where he had many wonderful friends.
