Kenneth E. Minard Obituary

Kenneth E. Minard, age 88 of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 9:55pm at the Hardin Hills Health Center in Kenton, Ohio.

 

Kenneth was born on March 27, 1932 in Wyandot County, Ohio to Ernest and Pauline (Weuscher) Minard, both of whom are deceased.  He married Reva Kirts on November 11, 1952 and she survives.

 

He is survived by a daughter Pat (Frank) Larick of Upper Sandusky, and 2 grandsons, Nathan Lambrite and Kyle Lambrite. 

 

Kenneth is also survived by 2 sisters, Pearl Brady of Mt. Clements, Michigan, and Goldie Huffman of Upper Sandusky, and a half brother, Tony Rife of Carey.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Earl Minard.

 

Kenneth retired as a captain with the Upper Sandusky Police Department and was the primary investigator for the department, serving for over 26 years. 

 

He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War in the 97th Signal Corp. After coming home from the service he had worked at Wyandot Vault and Westinghouse before becoming an police officer.

 

For hobbies he enjoyed anything outdoors such as hunting, fishing and boating, walking in the woods.  He also enjoyed woodworking, in fact he along with his father in law, built his home.  He also enjoyed blacksmithing and going for car rides.

 

Funeral services for Kenneth E. Minard will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Chaplain Steve Sturgeon officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard. 

 

Visitations will be held 1 hour before service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
