Mary M. Best

Mary M. Best, 83 of Land O’Lakes, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. She was born in Petoskey, Michigan and moved to Florida in 1995. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Land O’Lakes and was a retired baker. Mary enjoyed any type of crafting and working with her hands; some of her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, embroidery, sewing, reading and her passion was flowers and gardening. Mary is survived by her husband of nearly 26 years, Robert R. Best; son, James Chessman of Michigan; daughter, Jana Chessman of Leesburg, FL.; step-sons, Jeff of Tennessee, Mark of Wisconsin and Leann Durlak of Land O’Lakes. Also surviving are five grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and her sister, Grace Tornga. Mary was predeceased by her first husband, Sylvester Chessman and her sisters, Alice Tornga and Caroline Garen. She will be inurned at Florida National Cemetery on Wednesday, December 16th at 11 o'clock am where a committal service will be held. There will also be a service in Michigan in the spring of 2021. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Land O’ Lakes or to Good Samaritan Family Services PO Box 206 Ellsworth, Michigan 49729. The family has entrusted care and services to Loyless Funeral Home 5310 Land O’ Lakes, FL 34639.
