Betty Louise Keeney Williams -GLBFH Obituary

Jonesboro- Betty Louise Keeney Williams, 87, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. She was born on October 11, 1933, Betty grew up in Harrisburg where she met and fell in love with Arlie B. Williams, whom she married on July 18, 1951. Together they had four children and finally settled in Jonesboro where they have resided for the last 60 years. Aside from raising her children, Betty was an assistant librarian at MacArthur Junior High School, and she was a member of Southwest Church of Christ where she served as church secretary and volunteer for many years. Betty loved to travel domestically with her husband, Arlie, and together they enjoyed many trips to Phoenix, Arizona to see their late daughter, Gail Williams who took them on many adventures including the Grand Canyon, hot air ballooning, and skiing. Additionally, she enjoyed many other family travels including camping and canoeing at Buffalo River and visiting Hawaii, but perhaps her favorite adventure was taking a cruise to Alaska on her 50th wedding anniversary. When she wasn’t traveling in person, Betty was a traveler of the mind through books. She was an avid reader, a trait which she passed down many generations. She also enjoyed hosting ice cream socials and many a card game with dear friends from church. She is survived by her beloved husband, Arlie Williams; a son, Terry Williams; two daughters Beth Quadir and Connie Wyles; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. All of whom will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Gail Williams. Visitation will be from 12:00 until 2:00 pm Friday, November 27, 2020 at Gregg-Langford Funeral Home. A graveside service 3:00 p.m. Friday at Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in hopes of one day finding a cure. All attendees must wear masks and observe social distancing guidelines.
