Eunice L. Peterson

Eunice Louise Porter Peterson was born on April 4, 1942 to the late Choice Hornsby and John Porter, Jr. Eunice was raised in Orange, New Jersey by Choice and her step-father, the late Robert Wiggins. Eunice gave her life to Christ at an early age and had a number of church affiliations her entire life. Eunice married Charles W. Peterson on September 30, 1961. Although divorced, they remained friends along with the entire Peterson family. She was a longtime companion of Leroy Swearington until his death in April, 2020. Eunice held a variety of positions during her life. She was a backup vocalist for Dionne Warwick and many other singers for over 40 years . After NJPAC opened in 1997, she became the Senior Artist Assistant, a job she held until she became ill in 2019. In 1998 she became a charter member of the Jubilation Choir where she sang soprano until she fell ill. Eunice leaves to mourn her passing a beloved son, Charles Peterson Jr. (Sheena Dougher); grandchildren, Rachel Peterson Alston, Charles III, Sydney and Aubriana Peterson, and three great - grandchildren. She also leaves Toni Withers, who she semi-adopted as a teenager and a host of dear friends.
