Alan James Darby Sturgis, South Dakota Obituary

Alan James Darby

AJ (Alan James) Darby was born January 6, 1985, in Hot Springs, SD. He spent a couple of years at SDSMT where he taught himself computer coding, radio engineering, and video creation and editing. He lived life his own way, did things his own way, and loved in his own way. When his son Oliver was born, AJ fell hopelessly in love with him. Nothing ever made him as happy as cuddling with Ollie and Stefanie did. AJ loved music, he loved his family, and he loved to make people laugh. He was a multi-talented genius! Music was his earliest love and he romanced her all his life. He got his first guitar when he was ten years old and by the time he was twenty he had created his original style and unique blend of rock, electronica, and anything else that he could add. AJ died on November 18, 2020, at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital. He is survived by Stefanie Westling; his son, Oliver James Darby; his stepsons Aiden and Taven Westling; his mother, Kathy Holmgren; his father Jerry Darby, his brother, Jeff Darby; and a host of friends whom he loved and who loved him.
