<p>PAYNE, DORIS VIRGINIA PECK - age 94 of Morristown, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 23, 2020, surrounded by her family. She was employed with Morristown Utilities for 40+ years before retiring at age 72. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Morristown. She always enjoyed traveling with family and friends and was an avid supporter of UT athletics. She will be lovingly remembered always as the rock of her family.</p> <p> </p> <p>She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John D. Payne; parents, William Tate Peck and Stella Lee Lawrence; siblings Gilbert Lawrence Peck, Gladys Meece, Catherine Smart, James Frank Peck, Dorothy Peck, W.T. Peck, Margaret MacClintock, Mary Irene Titus, Charles G. Peck, Eugene Peck, Stella Frances Colbath, and three infants unnamed at birth.</p> <p> </p> <p>She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ed Payne (Sandra) of Morristown; daughter and son-in-law Donna Mir (Jon) of Hendersonville; grandchildren Kim Lambert (Jamie) of Morristown, Debra Lawson of Russellville, Pam Bewley (Jonathon) of Russellville, Meghan Vance (Neil) of Hendersonville, Kristen Mir of Nashville; great-grandchildren Emily, Kaitlin, Chelsey, and Chase Lambert, Matthew and Madison Lawson, Jackson, Jonmichael, Hudson, and Abigail Bewley, Mason and Cameron Vance.</p> <p> </p> <p>The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff of Serenity House, Amedisys Hospice, and Dewitt Place for the endless love, compassion, and care shown to our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother.</p> <p> </p> <p>A private graveside service was held on Wednesday morning, November 25, 2020, at Jarnigan Cemetery with Rev. Walter Weikel officiating.
