Joseph M. Fedock, loved and admired by many, passed away on November 23, 2020 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet (Jenna) Fedock, Manahawkin, NJ; his daughter Miranda Fedock, New York, NY; his two sisters, Ann M. Demczko and Mary J. Fedock, both of Kulpmont, PA; his nephew Matthew Demczko, Media, PA; and many cousins. Joe will be missed by the amateur radio community, of which he was a longstanding and accomplished member. He held the top US class of license, Amateur Extra Class, and his call sign is N3IE. He derived great enjoyment from interacting with the ham radio community. Joe was very active in ARRL, the National Association for Amateur Radio, and was an officer of the AT&T Middletown Club. Since 2004 Joe was an active member of the Stafford Township EMS, where he attained the status of Life Member. Fellow members could reliably seek out his knowledge and guidance. Joe’s dedication was demonstrated by his terms as Squad 38 President, Vice President and Trustee as well as his service as squad delegate to the New Jersey State First Aid Council for the 15th District. Joe was an active member of the Barnegat Monthly (Quaker) Meeting where he served as Treasurer. His careful attention to his duties as treasurer ensured the financial health of the meeting. Joe gave readily of his time to help others both in the Meeting and in the wider community. Joe frequently expressed awe for the wonders of the natural world and his amazement at human technological capabilities. He sought scientific information directly from peer-reviewed research articles, not by reading popular scientific magazines. The Quakers recall fondly his enjoyment of their 2018 tour of the world’s largest pipe organ at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, where he enthusiastically explored the far-ranging parts of the organ incorporated throughout the building. Joe made a 2017 road trip with two friends to view the total solar eclipse in South Carolina. While waiting for totality, he walked the field examining telescopes and discussing their technical features with their owners. Joe was thrilled to view the eclipse and exclaimed repeatedly that it was one of the most exciting events of his life. He planned to make a trip with his two friends to see the 2024 eclipse, and he encouraged other friends to join him. All who knew Joe will miss his joyful updates on his daughter Miranda. He adored her and loved sharing news about her. His obvious pleasure when reporting her accomplishments and her education-related travels was infectious.
