Wayne Raymond Olson Obituary

Wayne Raymond Olson, 89 passed away peacefully on November 21, 2020.  Wayne was the beloved husband of the late Louise Morrow Olson, the devoted father of Catherine (Cathy) Louise Ford, Ellen Marie Nesemeier, and Stephen (Steve) Andrew Olson.  He was the loving grandfather of 7 and a loving great grandfather of one.  

Mr. Olson was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois the eldest son of three children of Gustav Andrew Olson, a Norwegian immigrant and Martha Rosholt Raymond, also a Norwegian.  From a young age, Mr. Olson was fascinated with inventing things and figuring out electrical engineering challenges. He attended grade school in Chicago, graduated from Carl Schurz High School in Chicago and later on attended two years of Junior College at Wright Junior College.  Mr. Olson completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at Northwestern University; while at Northwestern he was elected to Eta Cappa Nu Honor Society.  Mr. Olson was employed as an electrical engineer for Westinghouse, and Computer Sciences Corporation for over twenty years. He retired as Manager of the Satellite Systems Division, Telecommunications Maintenance, Broadcasting Board of Governors, US International Broadcasting. He managed satellite telecommunications and maintenance around the world.  During his retirement years, Mr. Olson enjoyed spending time in Ocean City with his family.  

A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery on December 1, 2020.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Helping Up Mission, the Salvation Army, Toastmasters International, and Northwestern University.
