Kenneth Worthington Stitely, age 84, of Woodsboro, died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, after an extended illness. Born August 28, 1931 in Woodsboro, he was the son of the late Norman E. and Oley Black Stitely. He was the husband of Geraldine Kaufman Stitely, his wife of 63 years. In earlier years Mr. Stitely worked as a dairy farmer. He then became a heavy equipment operator, retiring from employment with Frederick County. Following retirement he continued this work on a part-time basis with a private company. He enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and helping others. He was devoted to his family, especially the grandchildren. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Roxanne Myers and husband Tim of Frederick; a son, Kenneth R. Stitely and wife Susan of Woodsboro; 4 grandchildren, Amanda Norman and husband Jon, Brent Myers and wife Lauren, Megan Brenneman and husband Ben and Jillian Henderson and husband Scott and 5 great grandchildren, Emmie, Lana, Brody, Ben and Andrew. He will also be remembered by special friends, Steele Michael, Kirt Bowers, Dena and Richard Crouse and family and numerous others. He was predeceased by a young daughter, Diane Marie Stitely, 4 sisters and 4 brothers. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 22 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro, with Rev. Kathryn Rohrbach, pastor of Woodsboro Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Glade Cemetery, Walkersville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 21. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
