NEW BEDFORD-Carlos M. Sanchez, 76, of New Bedford, died Sunday, November 22, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital following a lengthy period of declining health. He was the widower of Justina Mendez (Valdes) and son of the late Carlos Sanchez and Maria Ortiz. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he resided in New York and in New Bedford for many years. He was employed as a laborer in the construction field and also in the cranberry industry. He enjoyed going for walks, scratch tickets and had a impressive movie collection. His family includes his son, Carlos Sanchez and his wife, Susana of New Bedford and Jeanette Sanchez of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Rafael Ortiz and Luis Sanchez, both of New Bedford; 7 grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alina Sanchez. Visiting hours are Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Cremation to follow. Please be advised that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there are strict guidelines that must be adhered to for the safety of everyone. You MUST wear a mask to be allowed entry to the services. Please practice social distancing and avoid any close contact. Guests will be permitted to pay their respects and depart to allow the next guests to enter. Capacity at the funeral home will be limited so there could be wait times outside the funeral home. Capacity at the church is also limited. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.
