Ramona “Mona” Samora Alcaraz

Ramona “Mona” Samora Alcaraz, 89, formerly of Orange County, CA, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in Aroostook County on Thursday, November 12, 2020. Mona was born in Pueblo County, CO, on September 9, 1931. She remained in her hometown of Pueblo until she was 18 before she discovered the sunny beaches of Southern California. Mona was a California resident for over thirty five years before moving to Northern Maine to be with family. She was a dedicated hard worker, making a living as a professional housekeeper / nanny, often for renowned customers in Southern California. She formed lifelong friendships with many of her clients. Mona was proud of her Native American heritage and traveled to her hometown many times to attend traditional gatherings of song and dance. She was passionate about dogs and birds. She had several chihuahuas over the years as well as parrots. These pampered critters learned lots of tricks and the parrots spoke many words. While she missed her beloved California she called Maine home for nearly thirteen years. In addition to her parents Alfredo Samora and Annie Johnson Vallez, she was predeceased by her first husband Jim Silversmith, her second husband Eduardo “Eddie” Alcaraz, and her brother Alfredo “Freddy” Samora. Mona is survived by her brother Tomas Gilberto Martinez, his wife Yolanda, and their six children, as well as 12 great nephews and nieces. Mona will be missed by family and friends far and wide. Rest your soul Mona. There will be no services at this time. Arrangements in care of Dunn Funeral Home 11 Park St. Houlton, ME 04730.
