Helen Dzaman Obituary

Helen Dzaman of Ethelbert passed away on November 18, 2020 at the age of 93 years.

Helen was born in the Ukraine on March 1, 1927 to John and Mary Borkowski.  She came to Canada with her family in 1936, settling in the Mink Creek district.

On November 24, 1945 Helen married Harry Dzaman from Venlaw.  Together with two sons David and Dennis the family moved to Chicago, USA.  After retirement in 1972 the family moved back to Manitoba and resided in a home built by Harry in Charleswood.  In 1979, Helen and Harry moved to Ethelbert to enjoy more time near their grandchildren, family and friends.

Helen lived a full life, always willing to help others.  She was a devoted long time member of the U.C.W.L. in Ethelbert and spent many hours helping out at the church.
Her greatest happiness was found with her grandchildren.  With an opening line of "watcha gonna tell me" and her loving smile she formed close bonds with all.  Her baking, holupchi, dill pickles and unparalleled pierogies earned her the title Pierogi Yogi.  Baba's house was a happy and filling place to visit.  You could always find her in the garden.  She enjoyed the outdoors - foraging for mushrooms, picking berries and picnics to the lake.

Helen was predeceased by her husband Harry; her parents; her sister Joyce Heinrichs and most recently her son Dennis.

Left to mourn her passing are her son David and his wife Lynet; sister Pat Humeniuk; grandchildren Mariah and husband James, Aura, Zen and wife Katie, Atom and Eco; great grandchildren Ava, Inari, Ajani, Harrison and Stanley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Helen may be made to Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery - Ethelbert

A Private Funeral Service and interment was held on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at 2:00 pm from Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Ethelbert, MB with Rev Father Yaroslav Strukhlyak officiating.
