Warren Dixon Barnes

On Saturday, November 21st, 2020, Warren Dixon Barnes entered his eternal home. He was a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, granddaddy, and witness to many of the eternal peace that is found in Jesus Christ. Warren was the son of C.D. and Romaine (Lamm) Barnes, and was born on April 19, 1949, in Wilson, North Carolina. He graduated from Fike High School in 1967, and from North Carolina State University in 1971. From 1972 to 1975, Warren served as a pilot in the United States Air Force, fulfilling a 3rd grade goal. His professional career was spent in seed processing, and he worked as a plant manager both in the Midwest, and in the Midsouth. In 2015, he retired from Frazier, Barnes & Associates. In 1994, through the generosity of another, he received a liver transplant, which provided 26 years of “lagniappe.” Every day, Warren was deeply grateful for the faithfulness of the LORD. He relished in the goodness of his Heavenly Father’s world, especially on a golf course. Warren was a dedicated servant to Christ, and His church, and in all parts of life, he was fond of saying, “Work the process, and leave the outcome to God.” From helping to start Westminster Christian Academy in Opelousas, Louisiana, to serving his wife and children, to loving his family, to caring for the souls of his congregation, Warren leaves a legacy of pointing others to the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elaine Pate Barnes, and their three children: Carey (Kevin) Cannell, Amanda (Curt) Werries, David (Crystal) Barnes. He prayed often that his 10 grandchildren — Natalie and Jack Cannell; Jacob, Olivia, Lauren, and Nathan Werries; Betsie, Warren II, Rebekah, and William Barnes — would be the next generation to proclaim the glorious deeds of the LORD. He is also survived by two siblings: William (Bill) Barnes and Anne Sherron. He was preceded in death by his parents. On Friday, November 27th, 2020, there will be a private burial service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, in St. Louis, Missouri. The family knows that under different circumstances many would join them in praising God for the life of Warren, and for that they are deeply thankful.
