Mr. Larry Arthur “Buddy” Barnes, age 83, of Rome, GA, passed away Friday, November 20, 2020. A native of Rome and Floyd County, Buddy was born April 2, 1937, son of the late Fred Arthur Barnes and Margaret Agnes Chapman Barnes. He was a 1956 graduate of Rome High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in the Vietnam War. Buddy worked with Georgia Power for over 38 years as a lineman, retiring in 1988. He lived for a period of time in Sarasota, FL, before returning to Rome to live out his final years. Buddy loved painting and was an accomplished artist. Buddy is survived by two daughters, Joy Barnes and Beth (Kevin) Owens; one son, Larry (Stacy) Barnes; one brother, Benny Barnes; three half-sisters, Janet, Rene and Cheryl. Five grandchildren also survive In keeping with his wishes, Buddy has been cremated and private memorial services will be planned at a later date.
