Stephen Bruce Parmerlee

Stephen Bruce Parmerlee, 65, of Poulsbo, WA, passed away on November 16, 2020.  Born on July 28, 1955 in Beech Grove, IN to Ralph B. and Ruth G. (Kimbrell) Parmerlee, Stephen went on to graduate from Northwest High School in Speedway, IN, and later from Vincennes and Chapman Universities with a bachelor's degree.  Stephen served with honor in the US Navy from March 1975-January 2000.  During this time, he married Wendy Leah Freitas on August 8, 1982 in Honolulu, HI. At his retirement from the US Navy, Stephen earned the rank of E7 Chief. Stephen also received awards that included, SSBN Deterrent Patrol Pin (10), Enlisted Silver Dolphins, Expeditionary Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal.  A Vietnam and Gulf War Veteran, Stephen was stationed in Pearl Harbor and Bangor, WA.  After his retirement from the Navy, Stephen worked for 13 years at the Naval Supply Systems Command and 5 years at BAE Systems.  Stephen was a member of the American Legion Post #500 of Indianapolis, IN, who in his spare time enjoyed music and was a drummer and founder of local bands here in Poulsbo, WA. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing, hockey and basketball.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joey Parmerlee; and sister, Jennifer Kranados.  Stephen’s memory will live on with his loving wife of 38 years, Wendy; son, Jared S. Parmerlee of Kapolei, HI; daughters, Phoebe A. Parmerlee of Poulsbo, WA, Nikkoll Johnson of Canal Winchester, OH; sisters, Debbie Hines, Jill Coffy, Tina Parmerlee, and Ruth Ann Warren all of Indianapolis, IN; and four grandchildren.  Services will be private.
