Lafayette "L.P." Dallas

Lafayette "L.P." Dallas, 90, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at his home. L.P. Dallas was the 2nd oldest of 7 boys born to Merdia and Ollie (Adcock) Dallas, August 6,1930. He attended Fulton Grade School and was a 1950 graduate old Central High School downtown Evansville, where he played football and met the “Love of his Life” Dorris Jean Butler. He graduated Central High School in l950. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. After returning to the United States he married Dorris Jean February 28,1952. In the late 60's L.P. served as President of the Indiana Garage Owners Association. He owned and operated Dallas Service Center on Lincoln Ave. in Evansville. He and his wife, Dorris Jean open “Playhouse Day Care Center”. The next business venture they opened was Dallas Towing Inc. along with Dallas Salvage Pool and Rebuildable wrecks. L.P. was also a manufacturer for Jeridan flatbed wreckers. L.P. And Dorris Jean have been married for 66 years and where the last 12 has served as a loving care giver to a wife with Alzheimer’s. L.P. petitioned Evansville Masonic Lodge No. 64 in 1979 where he became a Master Mason, he later joined the Scottish Rite Valley of Evansville and earned his title as a 32° Mason. His next move was to petition Hadi Shriners in 1981 and joined the “Legion of Honor” he then became the “Founding Father” of the Hadi Mariners Club in 1982 and served as the Commodore for the first two years. In 1992 L.P. was responsible for the Mariners Club having their very own River Camp in Dogtown. In 2000 L.P. served Hadi as the Chief Aide. L.P. also belongs to the Royal Order of Jesters Court 102 and is a member of No-Ruz Grotto and is a Kentucky Colonel. L.P. has enjoyed working at the Hadi Shrine Circus for the past 38 years selling Glow-Lites and Coloring Books. He has continued to remain a very dedicated Shriner and we honored him as our 2018 Spring Class Honoree on Saturday, May 05. L.P. is survived by his daughters, Kathy Renae Shreve (Michael), and Ladonna Shreve (Philip) both of Henderson, KY; brothers, Tracy Dallas (Betty) of Evansville, IN, Lee Dallas (Connie) of Newburgh, IN and Keith Dallas (Teresa) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Tiffany Shreve, Holly Duncan (Tim); great grandchildren, Lily Duncan and Joseph Shreve; sister-in-law, Kathy Dallas of Lakeland, FL. L.P. was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years in 2019, Dorris Jean (Butler) Dallas; his parents; and brothers, William Dallas, Robert Dallas and his wife, Barbara, and Albert Dallas. A celebration of L.P.'s life will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Ronnie Markham officiating. Entombment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until service time on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Browning Funeral Home.
