Memorial graveside services for Bobbye Jean Byrum , 91, of Lovington, New Mexico will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Lovington Cemetery with Marcus McClain officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Bobbye was born on May 2, 1929 in Midland, Texas to Al and Sadie (Bradshaw) Strawn and passed away at Good Life in Lovington on November 20, 2020. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1946 and moved to Lovington with her parents the same year. She married R. L Byrum November 30, 1947 in Lovington. She was a member of First Christian Church for many years and then The Gospel Lighthouse and lastly, Tatum Baptist Church. Bobbye was an excellent homemaker, a wonderful cook and enjoyed canning the produce and the pickles and peas from her garden. She kept the basement full of the goodies she canned. Baking was one of her talents but she also liked sewing and taught Sandy how to sew. When her children were younger, she was the official car-hauler for the cheerleaders and took the boys to the all the ballgames. Bobbye was very outgoing, loved people and had many friends and was the "best mother-in-law ever." Preceding her in death were her parents, Al and Sadie; her husband, R. L. and one son: Robbie Byrum. Surviving her is her son: Larry Byrum of Lovington; one daughter: Sandy and husband Dick Crocker of Houston, TX; one granddaughter: Amanda and husband James Barrett of Hereford, TX and three great-grandaughters: Lauren, Hannah and Emma Barrett and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bobbye's memory to La Roca Church, 2520 W. Dakota Rd, Lovington, NM 88260 for the Honduras Hurricane Victims.
