View Funeral Webcast Jill C. Sweeney Borton passed away peacefully in her home on November 18, 2020. Born January 5, 1956, to Clarence (Sug) and Donna Caldwell Sweeney in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jill was the 8th child of 10 brothers and sisters. Jill grew up mostly in Tera, Utah, where she would wear her plastic cowboy boots lined with fur— no matter the weather — and whenever she took those boots off, the smell would knock everyone out! Jill brought joy and laughter to all her family and friends; everyone knew her to be the life of the party. Jill went to high school in Dugway, Utah, where she met the love of her life, Kenneth Borton, in 11th grade after his family moved from Alaska. Ken says it was love at first sight when he first saw Jill in English class and knew that he would spend the rest of his life with her. He eventually wore her down, and they started dating — a happy relationship that led to their marriage on November 8, 1975. Ken and Jill had many adventures together before starting their family and settling down in Kearns, Utah, near her sister Janet. During this time, Jill loved being with her family. She led by example to instill the value that family comes first to all those around her. Jill was the most selfless person, often sacrificing her own needs or wants to make sure her husband and children were cared for. She believed in hard work and following your dreams. With her family's support, Jill began nursing school in 1992 while working full-time and raising her family. She never missed any of her children's events or any moment to show them that they were loved, even if it came at a sacrifice. Jill reached her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse on October 9, 1996, where she worked for Intermountain Health Care, caring for others. Jill will be deeply missed by all those she touched and cared about. The world has lost a genuinely caring soul who would have helped anyone she met — even a stray cat. Jill is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence (Sug) and Donna Sweeny, and her sister Ruth Guymon. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Borton of West Jordan, UT; her daughter Kristina Borton, her husband Romel, and their children Alex, Anna, Andrew, and Asia; her son Kenny Borton and his cat Boots; her son Doozer Borton, his wife Rayne, and their children Elijah, Lukas, Calobe, Emjae, Dez; her daughter Chelsie Vega, her husband Matt, and their children Preston (Buggy), Mylo, Tilly, and Nayvie; her brothers Jack (Terre) Sweeny of Scottsdale, AZ, Shaun Sweeney of Modesto, CA, Clayton Butler of Phoenix, AZ; her sisters Lynn Wrede of Norco, CA, Elaine Eva of Stockton, UT, Janet (Greg) Gonzales of La Verkin, UT, Margaret Bennett of Ft. McDowell, AZ, Laurel Springer of S.C.; her dogs Browser, Bella, Pumba, Tink, and her cat Kit Kat. A viewing will be held on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Jenkins-Soffe at 4760 S. State Street Murray, UT 84107 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Saturday November 28, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. Services to celebrate Jill's life will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Jenkins-Soffe 4760 S. State Street Murray, UT 84107 at 11:00 AM, followed by graveside services at Memorial Redwood Cemeteries, 6500 S. Redwood Road West Jordan, UT 84084 where she will be laid to rest.
