Jeanne Lois Jensen Obituary

Jeanne L. Jensen, 96, of Lenexa, KS passed away on November 20,2020 at Advent Health Shawnee Mission Hospital.  Jeanne was born on Feb 20, 1924 in Dazey, North Dakota to Iver and Clara Alm(Hanson).  She was married to Lloyd Jensen in Portland, Oregon on June 20, 1942, a marriage lasting 76 years before his passing on March 26, 2019.

Jeanne was a beloved wife and mother of 3 sons.  David, Douglas, and Mark became Doctors of Education, Medicine/Cardiology, and Dentistry, respectively.  Jeanne was born to be a performer and spent her childhood and early adult years as a radio singer on WDAY in Fargo, North Dakota.  She later continued that endeavor as a night club singer after the births of David and Douglas.  In the course of time, she elected to give up a promising singing career and dedicate herself to family and church.  She and Lloyd raised three wonderful sons whom she considered her greatest achievement.  Later in life, after Lloyd’s retirement, she became a successful real estate agent here in the Johnson County area and also liked to sing and perform with the Sweet Adelines.

Jeanne was a wonderful, fun-loving person whose strong convictions and dedication to her family were the center pieces of her life.  Later in life, she enjoyed watching sports on TV.  The Royals, Chiefs, and the Kansas Jayhawks basketball team were her passion.  Bridge playing with friends was a favorite pastime.  Most anyone who knew her would say “that lady knows what she wants and how to get it”.  Certainly an indominable spirit whom we will all miss every day.

She is survived by her sons David (married to Ann and living in Overland Park, KS), Douglas (married to Cheryl and living in Phoenix, AZ), and Mark (married to Linda and living in Shawnee, KS), as well as six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  We will all remember her for her zest for life, loving nature, and unwavering dedication to her family.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Jeanne’s name to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.  She will certainly be greatly missed by all.
