Lucia Dianne Romano McNear, 80, of Brighton passed away peacefully on Thursday, November, 19, 2020 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton.

She was born on July 12, 1940 in Alton to the late Vincent and Joan (Alben) Romano.

Lucia was employed at B Dalton Bookseller as manager and Brighton Library as head librarian for many years until she retired. She shared her enthusiasm and knowledge of books to all.   Lucia enjoyed reading, crocheting, watching westerns, and especially loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children:  Tim (Molly) McNear of Alton, Steve McNear of Alton, Darren (Janet) McNear of Brighton, Lori (Kent) Johnson of Bettendorf, IA, Lynn (Craig) Watts of Brighton, and Lisa (Steve) McGaughey of Brighton; twelve grandchildren Danielle McNear, Clinton McNear, Abby (Jacob) Juliano, Meghan McNear, Anna (Doug) Wicks, Erin Johnson, Conor Johnson, Alyssa (Naythan) Beichler, Adam Watts, Lindsay (Leland) White, Laura Bohlen, and Leah McGaughey; two step grandchildren Myles (Jenna) Linhares and Libby (Josh) Foiles; six great grandchildren Jayden, Maddie, Christian, Luke, Presleigh, Liam and one on the way; sister Nita (Harry) Oertel of Brighton; brother Frank (Nancy) Romano of Brighton.

Lucia is preceded in death by her parents Vincent and Joan Romano; brother Mike Romano; daughter in law Monica McNear.

Private graveside services will be held at Brighton Cemetery.
