Vera Lea Hansford

Vera Lea Hansford, age 82, formerly of Diamond, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the Granby House in Granby, MO. Vera, the daughter of the late Clyde and Alma (Gilbreath) Giger, was born on October 8, 1938 in Sarcoxie, MO. After graduating from Sarcoxie High School, she then attended cosmetology school. On January 15, 1959 in Miami, OK she was united in marriage to Russell Hansford, who preceded her in death on July 1, 2016. She was an avid and talented painter and enjoyed playing Bunko with her friends. She was employed at Ozarkland for 25 years where she enjoyed working with people and helping customers. Survivors include one son, Troy Hansford, of Newtonia; one daughter, Erin Boursheski, and her husband, Kent, of Pierce City; two grandsons, Adam Boursheski and Drew Boursheski, both of St. Louis; one granddaughter, Sara Boursheski, of Pierce City; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Fayanell Burris, Ruth Kenney, Ruby Ralston, Loren Giger, and Carol Goen. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, November 27, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin with private family burial to be held at a later date. Due to the Novel Coronavirus outbreak and CDC guidelines, the family requests that attendees wear masks and practice social distancing. Webcasting of the Memorial Visitation will be available on www.masonwoodard.com and you may contact the mortuary for more information. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be entrusted to the mortuary. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory, Joplin.
