Obituary
Ronald Dean Spangler, Sr., 78, of Howard, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Centre Crest Nursing Home. He was born in White Township, Snyder County, the son of the late Russell and Hulda Oshall Spangler.
Ron was a graduate of Lock Haven High School class of 1960. He was united in marriage to Gale M. Hironimus in Howard on July 8, 1967. She survives at their home.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970. He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church, the Beech Creek American Legion, and The United Auto Workers Union. He was an avid hunter.
Ron retired from Cerro Metals of Bellefonte after many years of service.
Along with his wife he is survived by a son, Ronald D. Spangler, Jr. of Kulpmont, a daughter, Nicole ( Wayne ) Hockenberry of Pleasant Gap, a sister, Shirley Rupert, and two brothers, Lewis and Howard " Cork " Spangler, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
A service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at the Liberty Baptist Church, Main and Bald Eagle Streets, Blanchard, with Rev. Dr. Chris Davis officiating. Friends will be received on Monday November 23rd from 6-8 P.M. at the church.
Burial will be at Blanchard Cemetery with military honors. CDC guidelines will be followed at each event. Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Baptist Church, P.O. Box 207 Blanchard, PA. 16826.
