Stephen N. Rogers 1920 – 2020 Floyd Stephen N. Rogers, 100, of Floyd, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 at his home, with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 4, 1920 in Westernville, NY, the son of George and Marie (Long) Rogers and graduated from Holland Patent Central School. On June 28, 1941, he was united in marriage to Betty Charles in East Floyd, NY and shared a blessed union of 51 years until her passing in 1992. Stephen then enlisted and proudly served his country in the US Navy as a ship fitter third class from March 1943 to November 1945, seeing action in both Great Britain and Germany during the occupation. Stephen was employed as a foreman with Griffiss AFB-SAC for 30 years until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of Floyd Methodist Church and the Holland Patent American Legion Post 161 for 46 years. Stephen enjoyed traveling with his wife in the United States and wintering in Florida. He was an avid hunter and often traveled to the Tug Hill to hunt deer. Surviving are his daughters, Sandra Sokolowski, Stittville, NY and Denise (Steve) VanAernam, Boonville, NY; sons, Timothy (Rise) Rogers, Holly, NY, Ted (Diane) Rogers, Largo, FL and Todd (Mavis) Rogers, Floyd, NY; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Rogers, Wildwood, FL; grandchildren, Alicia (Eric) Kobelski, Eric (Erika) VanAernam, Ethan (Lindsey) VanAernam, Vanessa (Patrick) Holden, Jonathan (Carie) Rogers, Julia (Lee) Heckathorn, Jeff (Mona) Rogers, Jennifer (Brad) Schieble, Rebecca (Jeb) Worden, Kirsi Rogers and Pastor Shane Timothy (Donna) Rogers, Stephen Mark Rogers and Michelle Rogers; 34 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Debra Rogers; son, Stephen Rogers; granddaughter-in-law, Rhonda Rogers; sisters, Louise Jones, Shirley Sipley and June Rogers and a brother, George Rogers. Stephen’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to visiting nurses, Rene Eldridge, Lorrie Lenaghen and Rita Sarasy for their wonderful care and compassion. Relatives and friends are invited to funeral services on Wednesday at 3 pm from Redeeming Love Fellowship Church, 9011 NY-365, Stittville, NY 13469. Calling hours will from 1 pm until time of services. Interment will be in Carmichael Hill Cemetery, Western, NY, on Friday at 10 am with Military Honors. Masks must be worn and proper social distancing followed. Arrangements are with Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 7944 Steuben St., Holland Patent.
