Nancy Slater Hartman

Nancy Gene Slater Hartman of Springfield, Missouri, died November 21, 2020. Nancy was born August 17, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Harry Eugene and Mina Mason Slater. Nancy grew up in Ferguson, Missouri. After attending William Woods University she married Dallas Gravatt and had two children. In the 1970s, while raising the children in Jefferson City, Missouri, she worked for the John Danforth campaign for Senate, then became the Administrative Assistant to Lt. Governor William Phelps. After leaving Jefferson City she moved to Springfield where she met her second husband, Russell Hartman. They lived in Tucson, Arizona, where Nancy worked at the local library. After she became a widow, Nancy then moved to Texas to be near her daughter. In 2020, she moved back to Springfield to be near her son. She had a passion for reading, politics, religion and family. She was a dear friend to many and will be missed by all who knew her. Nancy is survived by son, David Gravatt (Susan) of Springfield; daughter, Amy Enloe (Patrick) of Denton, Texas; grandchildren, Aaron Gravatt of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Rachel Enloe of Plano, Texas, Max Enloe of Plano, Texas; stepson, Terry Hartman (Janice) of Vacaville, California; stepdaughter, Sandra George of Madera, California; step-granddaughter, Ali Hartman of Vacaville, California; brother, William Slater (Louise) of Pahrump, Nevada, as well as nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to your local food pantry or the American Heart Association.
