Darlene Y. (Hipp) Self Dolly, age 82, of Maysville, WV passed away Friday, November 20, 2020 in Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Darlene was born on February 9, 1938 in Maysville, WV and was a daughter of the late Vernis Carl Hipp and Clara (Hanlin) Hipp.

In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest “Cleo” Self and one granddaughter, Kristen Hooker.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Dolly, of Cabins and her daughter Ramona Hooker (Kenneth), son, Douglas Self (Kim), and daughter Bonita Burrs (George).  She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jason Hooker (Carmen), Shelbey Butterfield (Taylor), Garrett Hooker (Lynn), Joseph Burrs (Alexandra Goins), Joshua Burrs and Eric Self. Eight great grandchildren, Addeline Hooker, Corionna Brey, Jonathon Sons, Cambria Hooker, Embrey Hooker, Easton Butterfield, Aubrey Burrs and Danielle Burrs.  She is also survived by her siblings, Carl Hipp (Esther), Helen Turner (Bruce) and Denver Hipp (Patsy).

Darlene moved to the Baltimore area after her marriage to Cleo in September 1956 and she was employed as a secretary for Martin Marietta.  She later worked for Baltimore County Schools as a bus driver.  She returned to Maysville in 1986 where she and Cleo retired.  After being widowed, she married Wayne Dolly in December 2017.

Darlene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -Day Saints in Petersburg.

 The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.  Funeral services will follow at 1 PM with Elder Stephen Kimble officiating.   Interment will be in Idleman-Scherr Cemetery, Scherr, WV.

Please be prepared to adhere to all current health guidelines, including face masks and social distancing.
