DETROIT-Ralph M. Debay, 70, died at his home on November 19, 2020, in Detroit. Ralph was born on April 1, 1950, in Houlton, Maine, the son of Vaughn and Bernice (Farrell) Debay. He graduated from Maine Central Institute with the class of 1968 and attended the University of Maine in Presque Isle. He also served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. In his younger years, Ralph helped work the family business, Western Auto, in Newport. He was the grounds keeper for several years at the Newport Country Club. He belonged to a bowling league for many years and enjoyed hanging out with his friends at the Newport Recreation Center. He is survived by his three sisters: Linda Gilbert of Palmyra, Donna Gilbert and companion Dale Rackleff of Oakland, and Robin Schissler and husband George of Detroit; several nieces and nephews; a special niece, Brandi Walker; and a wonderful neighbor, Jodi Williams of Detroit. He was predeceased by his parents; and his golden retriever, Emma. A private family committal will take place at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield.
