Roy Louis Nelson

Roy L. Nelson, 86, Fort Atkinson, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Sienna Crest in Fort Atkinson. Roy was born on March 1, 1934 in Sturgeon Bay, WI to Roy W. and Cora (Grassold) Nelson. He graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee. Roy served his country in the United States Army. He attended Devry Technical School where he received training that he used to own, along with his brother-in-law, their own radio and TV business. Roy then worked for 32 years at JATCO-Allied as a driver. After his retirement he worked for Jefferson Mid-States Auto Auction for 6 years. On November 14, 1981 he married Kathy L. Brown in Delavan, WI. Roy was a member of the Lake Petite Pheasant Club in Walworth, the Big Foot Archers in Lake Geneva, the Janesville Masonic Center #55 and the Moose Lodge in Harvard, Ill. He enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, fishing and family parties. Roy loved his many birds and the houses he made. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Kathy of Fort Atkinson; children Pennie Nelson, Delavan, William Nelson, Bolivia, SC and Rodney (Tammy) Nelson, Tabor City, NC; step-children James Brown, Fort Atkinson and Jeffery (Wendy) Brown, Stoughton; 4 granddaughters, 3 step-granddaughters, 1 step-grandson and 1 step-great-granddaughter. A Celebration of Roy’s life will be held at a later date. Kathy would like to thank Rainbow Hospice and the staff at Sienna Crest for the love that they showed to Roy. Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
