Daniel Shilts

Daniel Shilts July 5, 1962 – November 18, 2020 James Daniel Shilts, 58, of Atlanta, GA passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his black lab, Dakota, who he referred to as his guardian angel. Daniel was a son of the late Ronald Lee Shilts, Sr., and Mary Ann Ellison Shilts. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Melanie, his children; Christopher Shilts, Shannon Lawton (Tim), and Brandon Seigler (Wendy), granddaughters; Ella Grace and Ava Belle Lawton, brother, Ronald Lee Shilts, Jr., sister, Laura Caum and several nieces and nephews. Daniel was remembered as being the happiest and funniest and most stubborn person you would ever meet. He had a booming voice like a cannon and enjoyed nothing more than using that voice to tell countless stories of good times. He was one of the most talented general contractors and was a true artist of his craft. His youngest son, Christopher, refers to him as his very best friend and there was no father more proud of their son than Daniel. He did everything he could to make people happy and lived every day to its fullest. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Face masks are required, and social distancing is to be observed.
