Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather and friend, Dorious J Smith “Joe” passed away peacefully November 20, 2020 at the age of 95. A recitation of the rosary will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, September 25 at St Monica Catholic Church, 357 S. 6th street in Coos Bay with a mass to follow at 11am. 

Joe was born March 26, 1925 to Marie and Nikoles Smith in Marshfield, Oregon. He was the youngest of 5 children.

He graduated from Marshfield High School in 1941 and later drafted to serve in WWII, where he rose to the rank of corporal.

He married Eileen Swanson on May 6, 1951 and raised 4 children. Diana Brooks Hinshaw, Debbie Smith Shipp (Don), James Smith, and Beth Smith Woodyard(Curt).

His passions in life were backpacking, downhill skiing, ham radio, many forms of dancing and anything electronic.

Joe is survived by his children, 9 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Eileen Smith, his parents and his siblings.

He is loved and missed by all.
