Darlene was born August 12, 1936 in Portland, Oregon to John & Genevieve (Christman) Laing. She passed away surrounded by those she loved and her care team with hospice at her daughters residence.

Darlene graduated from Franklin High School in 1954. She then married James Van Vlack in August of 1954. Together having 5 children. Darlene later married Richard Tate in 1976.

During her lifetime she lived in Portland, Oregon, Magna, Utah and McMinnville, Oregon. She worked as a realtor in Salt Lake City, Utah, Darlene also work in banking and was apart of the Utah Jazz Organization. She enjoyed sports, antiques, reading and beach trips.

Left to mourn is her son Mark Van Vlack of Garibaldi, Oregon, her daughter Joan Van Vlack of McMinnville, Oregon and her son Eric Van Vlack also from McMinnville, Oregon.

Darlene is preceded in death by her daughter Laurie Ranger and son Kirk Van Vlack.

There will be a private interment at Pacific View Memorial Gardens followed by a family graveside service at a later date due to COVID-19 restrictions.
