He was born in Scott County, TN on April 2, 1945.</strong></p> <p><strong>He was preceded in death by 1 infant son, Adam Smithers; his mom, Juanita Cochran Smithers Bowling; his dad, Ed Smithers and stepdad, James Robert (Bo) Bowling; 4 brothers, Howard Smithers, Gene Smithers, Willie Smithers, and James Smithers; 6 sisters, May Lawson, Zilpha Seibers, Sara Newport, Sue Bowling, Mary Chitwood, and Versie Muse.</strong></p> <p><strong>Gleason is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Nancy Smithers of Robbins, TN; 3 sons, Jacob and wife Annette Smithers of Robbins, TN, Jason Smithers of Robbins and fianc&eacute;e Angela Lloyd, and Anthony Smithers of Dalton, GA; 2 brothers, Daniel Smithers of Huntsville and Ray Smithers and companion Mary of Straight Fork; 1 sister, Cora Moffett and husband Barney of Straight Fork; 2 brothers-in-law, Bob Bowling of Brimstone and Vernon Seibers of Petros, TN; 10 grandkids, Tiffany Smithers, Brooke Smithers, Joshua Smithers, Charlina Miles, Cheyenne Smithers, Whytte Smithers, Bailey Smithers, Shane Cooper, Ethan Cooper, and Calbe Carroll; 2 special granddaughters, MaKayla Cooper and Bella Smithers; 9 great grandkids, Evangeline Castaneda, Anna Castaneda, Jedidiah Smithers, Charlotte Smithers, Josiah Earwood, Jensen Earwood, Aubrey Miles, Zoe Miles and Alexander Maddox; and many other relatives and friends.</strong></p> <p><strong>Friends may visit with the Gleason family on Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Sexton and Bro. Phillip Kidd officiating.</strong></p> <p><strong>Committal service will follow in the Black Creek Crossroads Cemetery in Robbins. Pallbearers will be: Doyle Smithers, Wendle Smithers, Frank Smithers, Wayne Russel, Dean Byrd, Dewhite Human, and Logan Voiles.</strong></p> <p><strong>With the Health Guidelines in place at this time, we ask that you be mindful of the social distancing measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. Masks are required.</strong></p> <p><strong>West-Murley Funeral Home is serving the family of Gleason Smithers.</strong></p>
